Program overview.

The Hybrid EMT program combines self-paced Navigate coursework with supervised skills practice and assessment on Fridays in learning Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9. The final Sunday runs 10:00 AM–5:00 PM, with five hours of skills testing followed by a two-hour written final. The program includes 45 skills hours and 170 total course hours. School closures are reflected in the calendar. Each Friday runs 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, providing 40 skills hours across five sessions.

The 146-hour didactic and skills component includes the two-hour written final. Skills instruction is planned at no more than 10 students per instructor. The calendar remains subject to finalization and program approval.

Who the program is for.

Students who can manage scheduled online coursework independently and attend mandatory campus sessions and clinical or field placements.

What you’ll study.

Course materials use Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 12th Edition, with assignments through Jones & Bartlett Navigate.

EMS systems; workforce safety; communications and documentation; medical, legal, and ethical topics; anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and lifespan development; patient moving and lifting; vital signs and patient assessment.

Airway management, ventilation, oxygen delivery, CPR, AED use, pharmacology, shock and resuscitation, and respiratory, cardiovascular, neurologic, endocrine, gastrointestinal, toxicologic, behavioral, and other medical emergencies.

Trauma assessment, bleeding control, soft-tissue and chest or abdominal injuries, splinting, spinal motion restriction, environmental emergencies, and obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, and special-population care.

Transport, incident command, triage, extrication, hazardous materials and mass-casualty incidents, documentation, and NREMT review. Course completion is distinct from obtaining an EMT certification or license.

Clinical and field experience.

Clinical and field partners include American Medical Response (AMR) and Falck. Students complete two supervised 12-hour ambulance ride-alongs after the core modules, all required skills instruction and competency checks, clinical validation, and verified screening and health documentation. A minimum 80% cumulative quiz/exam average is required for placement.

Available shifts are selected after placement eligibility is confirmed. Students work under a preceptor, do not replace operational staff, and must obtain signed verification of hours, competencies, and patient-care documentation.

Tuition and admission requirements.

Base tuition is $1,699, including course materials, Navigate access, AHA BLS Provider certification planned during Week 1, background screening, uniform shirts, and in-class training supplies. No deposit is required. Full tuition is due at enrollment; payment plans are not currently offered.

Students must be at least 18 by the scheduled course completion date. A diploma or GED is not required for admission. Students provide their own required pants and boots and pay Live Scan, NREMT examination, and EMT certification/licensing fees. Clinical eligibility requirements also apply.

The five Fridays in learning Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 run 8:00 AM–4:00 PM for 40 skills hours. Sunday adds five hours of skills testing, bringing the skills total to 45 hours. The two-hour written final is counted separately.

School closures: Thanksgiving break: Thu, Nov 26, 2026 – Sun, Nov 29, 2026; Winter break: Thu, Dec 24, 2026 – Sun, Jan 3, 2027; Easter Sunday: Sun, Mar 28, 2027. No classes or assignment deadlines fall on these closure dates.

The two 12-hour field shifts are scheduled separately after placement eligibility is met. Their dates depend on affiliate availability and may extend beyond the last classroom day.
