These expenses are separate from base tuition. Individual amounts and the complete cost information will be provided before enrollment. Standalone BLS tuition is $99; EMT Refresher tuition is TBD. BLS certification is already included in initial EMT tuition.
Conditional field-shift fee
A $200 rescheduling fee applies to a missed clinical or field shift without the required notice. This is separate from base tuition; review the field attendance policy below.

BEFORE CLINICAL PLACEMENT
Prepare for training.
Background-screening and health-document requirements must be completed before clinical or field placement. Submit documentation only through the designated process provided during enrollment.
Background screening is included in tuition; Live Scan fingerprinting fees are student-paid. Required screening includes identity and Social Security number verification, California DOJ and FBI criminal-history review, national and state sex-offender registry screening, and an Office of Inspector General (OIG) exclusion check.
Requirements include TB clearance through a negative PPD or clear chest X-ray within the past six months; two MMR doses or a positive IgG titer; two varicella doses or a positive IgG titer; Tdap within 10 years; and a documented three-dose hepatitis B vaccine series, positive titer, or permitted signed waiver. Detailed submission instructions will be provided before placement.
Pacific Coast EMT uniform shirts are provided in tuition. Students purchase their own dark navy EMS-style tactical pants and clean black composite- or steel-toed safety boots. A black tactical belt is part of the uniform. Students must follow professional conduct, patient privacy, communication, and safety expectations. Hair, facial hair, and jewelry must be compatible with training and safety requirements.
You need a computer or tablet capable of accessing Jones & Bartlett Navigate, reliable internet, and an active email account. Students must be able to complete modules, quizzes, and assignments and check Navigate daily for announcements and grades.
COURSE COMPLETION
Academic and skills standards.
Students who meet all program requirements receive an EMT Course Completion Certificate. This certificate is separate from an EMT certification or license.
Compare EMT formats- Attend at least 90% of required didactic and skills hours.
- Complete all required Navigate coursework.
- Earn at least 80% on required chapter quizzes and cognitive assessments.
- Pass the final written examination with at least 80%.
- Pass required psychomotor/skills evaluations with zero critical failures.
- Complete two 12-hour ambulance ride-alongs and all required preceptor-signed documentation.
FIELD EXPERIENCE
Prepare for your ambulance shifts.
The planned field internship consists of two supervised 12-hour ambulance ride-alongs. AMR and Falck are the listed field partners. You participate as a student under a preceptor and do not replace ambulance crew.
Complete the core modules, all required skills instruction with no outstanding psychomotor deficiencies, and the clinical validation check. Maintain at least an 80% cumulative quiz/exam average, and have all required background and health documents verified before placement.
After you meet placement requirements, available shifts are selected on a first-come, first-served basis according to the cohort’s completion schedule. Your preceptor must sign the approved field logs, patient-care documentation, competencies, and hour-verification records.
Submit a Clinical Reschedule Request Form to the Clinical Coordinator and notify the site preceptor at least 48 hours before the shift. A missed shift without the required advance notice is treated as a no-call/no-show, resulting in suspension of field privileges, Program Director review, and a $200 rescheduling fee.
STUDENT POLICIES
Attendance, conduct, and support.
The program uses pass/fail competency standards. Academic, skills, attendance, and field requirements must each be met for course completion.
Missed examinations require formal instructor approval and must be completed within one week. Missed skills require remediation. Academic and skills remediation is offered within program limits; your instructor will explain the assigned work and deadlines.
An early academic warning may be issued when quiz/module performance falls to the 82% warning threshold or attendance reaches the 90% minimum. An individualized remediation plan may include supervised review, assigned chapters, and Navigate modules. Follow the plan’s deadlines and maintain all completion standards.
Follow the uniform, grooming, patient-privacy, professional communication, and safety requirements. Unsafe actions, impairment during training, falsified records, theft, violence, harassment, or abuse can result in dismissal. Phones, smartwatches, and unauthorized materials must be put away during proctored examinations.
You will receive the student handbook, enrollment documents, program acknowledgments, and background-screening instructions. The signed handbook acknowledgment is required before Day 1 and access to instruction. Certifix Live Scan is the background-screening vendor identified in the program’s onboarding plan.
Withdrawal and enrollment terms.
The withdrawal process requires a signed, written Withdrawal Request Form. Contact administration for the current form and submission instructions.
Final refund, cancellation, and transfer terms will be provided in the student-facing handbook and enrollment agreement before enrollment opens. No deposit is required, and no tuition is being collected at this stage.
